“We, Polish politicians, have no favorite, as we do not interfere in the political decisions of the other states. We are glad that the first round of presidential elections in Ukraine attests to the development of the diplomatic institutions,” Krzysztof Szczerski, Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
He added that Poland would be monitoring the electoral campaign before the second round.
“A completely different campaign begins right now, a completely different competition between two candidates. Therefore, this will mean a full reorganization of the electorates and distribution of the support,” he stressed.
Zelensky is a leader in the majority of the regions of Ukraine, while Poroshenko is mostly supported in western Ukraine - Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil regions. Yuriy Boyko dominates in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
