David Sakvarelidze, member of political party Movement of New Forces, says that Mikheil Saakashvili has arrived in Warsaw, as he wrote on Facebook.
The Polish Border Guard Service confirmed that they have accepted Saakashvili, according to the statement on the service’s website.
The readmission was the result of the previously accepted application submitted by the Migration Service of Ukraine to the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard service of Poland.
As we reported earlier today, Saakashvili was detained by the task force of the Border Guard Service in a restaurant in downtown Kyiv and sent to Poland.
On Sep. 22, 2017, the Mostysky court in Lviv found Saakashvili guilty of unlawfully crossing Ukraine’s border. In January 2018, the District administrative court of Kyiv refused Saakashvili’s appeal to the Migration service as to recognizing him a refugee. On Feb. 6, the court denied this claim again.
This way, Mikhail Saakashvili was staying in Ukraine illegally, so he was readmitted to the country where had come from according to all the jurisdictional formalities, the border guard service emphasized.
