Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk called yesterday's events in Novi Sanzhary, Poltava region, where people were evacuated from Wuhan, to be the consequence of the information war as 112 Ukraine reported.
“The events, which took place yesterday, in my opinion, they are the consequence of the information war, which continues in our country inside and outside. I suppose that the provocations will continue. We have the information that supposedly the citizen of China who arrived in Ukraine by plane five days ago, stayed in Kyiv for four days and went to Moscow by train, was stopped at the border with Russia and supposedly, some virus was spotted to create panic, break down people, sow the seeds of distrust and discord among us,” Honcharuk said.
The PM also noted that there is everything necessary for evacuated people in Novi Sanzhary; they are housed in the rooms, in the warm and fed: “The epidemiologic and physical security are provided”.
On February 20, the Boeing 737-800 landed in Kharkiv city. It carried the Ukrainians who were evacuated from China so as to save them from the raging coronavirus. According to Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry, none of the passengers were sick or showed any symptoms of the disease. The Interior Ministry decided that the citizens will be put on the quarantine in Novi Sanzhary, Poltava region, central Ukraine.
That evening, the buses with the evacuated passengers reached Novi Sanzhary; the enraged locals pelted them with stones, protesting against the decision to accommodate the people there. They also set a fire and tried to block the road to the sanitarium, but the police didn't let them.
