To date, the number of pensioners that live on the occupied territories is unknown. The Deputy Minister of Social Policy Mykola Shambir claimed this on air of The Pulse political talk show on 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“Nobody knows this number,” Shambir said.
The presenter specified with the reference to experts that around 2 million dollars have been spent on pensions. Shambir replied that this amount is relatively close to the reality.
"According to our estimates, 1,2 million pensioners lived in 2014 on currently occupied territories. During this time, 1,1 million pensioners were receiving pensions there. The rest are those who migrated," Shambir specified.
As it was reported earlier, over the past year the number of displaced people from the occupied territories who receive pensions has increased by 80,000.
Pavlo Zhebrivsky, former Head of Donetsk Regional Civil-Military Administration said that Ukrainian citizen residing in the occupied Donbas who are not capable to take their pension money shall get their money after the international administration settled on the occupied territories.
