Parliament’s Committee admits petition on immunity lifting of opposition MP Vilkul legal

The Regulatory Committee of the Verkhovna Rada recognized the petition on the lifting of immunity of MP Olexander Vilkul from “Opposition Bloc” legal as 112 Ukraine reported.

During the session, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko described two episodes on which the lawfulness of action by Vilkul will be checked.

The first case concerns the activity of Vilkul at the post of Chairman of Dnirpo Regional State Administration in 2011. According to Lutsenko, the current MP ordered to pass 15 hectares and a few smaller land plots “of the allegedly land reserves but in fact of the lands of the collective ownership” for the extension of the open pit in the interests of Ordzhonikidze Mountain-Concentrating Combine. According to Prosecutor General, due to this, the state sustained $17,000 losses.

The second episode is about the illegal replacement of the lands of agricultural appointment to “Artland” Company for other commercial needs. The Prosecutor General claimed that Vilkul could give verbal orders on such replacement of the lands’ appointment and the state sustained losses in the sum of $183,000.

Olexandr Vilkul claimed that in the first case the lands were and remained to be the state-owned, however, these were the lands of the reserves and then moved to the rent and the state got money for their rent.

Talking about the replacement of the lands appointment, Vilkul said:

“Artland” Company moved the lands of the agricultural appointment to the grasslands. It was not done by the regional state administration under my leadership but Dnipropetrovsk District State administration with which I had nothing to do.”

Vilkul claimed that in 2017 one of the courts gave a permission for the wiring of his phone number.

Earlier the Regulatory Committee recognized the petition of the Prosecutor General for the lifting of the immunity from Dmytro Kolesnikov, the MP of “Opposition Bloc” legal.

As we reported Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko presented a filing petition to the Verkhovna Rada on limiting immunity and prosecution of Oleksandr Vilkul, Dmytro Kolesnikov, and Serhiy Dunayev, the MPs of “Opposition Bloc”.

Later the Verkhovna Rada Committee has recognized legal and grounded the appeal for the removal of immunity from the member of the Opposition Bloc Serhiy Dunaev.
