The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Utilities made a decision to appoint Vice President of Energoatom Herman Halushchenko as the Energy Minister. 112.ua.tv reported that, citing Committee’s member and MP Serhiy Nahornyak.
“The Committee has approved the candidature of Halushchenko. We will vote for him tomorrow,” he said.
The proper decision was made at the meeting of the committee by the majority of votes.
Nahornyak expressed hope that there will be enough votes and Herman Halushchenko will have more authority as the Minister than Acting Minister Yuriy Vitrenko.
Herman Halushchenko worked at the prosecutor’s office, Foreign Ministry; he was also deputy head of the presidential administration; in 2013-2014, he occupied the position of executive director on legal support of Energoatom. In May 2020, he became Vice President of the company.
According to mass media, Halushchenko is close to the president’s assistant Serhiy Shefir.
