Parliament to gather for extraordinary meeting on May 13

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian Parliament will meet for an extraordinary plenary meeting on Wednesday, May 13.  Parliamentary speaker Dmytro Razumkov signed corresponding order on May 8, the press service of the Parliament reports.

"In connection with the requirement of 158 MPs of Ukraine to convene an extraordinary plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation and, in accordance with part eight of Article 19 of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, convene an extraordinary plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation at 10 o’clock on May 13, 2020," the order says.

There are 24 questions on the agenda, an hour of questions for the government and a report by the chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine on the Bank's activities.

In particular, next week MPs will consider a bill on banks, exemption of medical salaries for doctors from taxation, a draft law on defense procurement, as well as improving the procedure for appointing and dismissing Cabinet members.

On Wednesday, it is also planned to consider amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the special procedure for considering bills in the second reading.

The Parliament intends to decide on amendments to the Economic Procedural, Civil Procedure and the Code of Administrative Procedure of Ukraine regarding the flow of procedural terms during the quarantine.

MPs were also proposed to consider bills on the management of household and other wastes, to strengthen the protection of telecommunication networks and to increase responsibility for failure to comply with the legal requirements of the MP of Ukraine, the Audit Chamber, and a member of the Audit Chamber.

On the agenda is the issue of the trip of judges in the temporary transfer of a judge to another court, on granting the right of free registration to persons with disabilities and people who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl accident and regarding the prevention of bankruptcy abuses for the period of measures aimed at preventing the occurrence of and the spread of coronavirus disease.

The Rada will consider draft resolutions on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the national parliaments of foreign states, international organizations and their parliamentary assemblies on the occasion of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II 1939-1945 and the parliament quarantined on May 18.

As we reported before, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may consider the bill on banks on Wednesday, May 13.
