Head of Ukraine’s Delegation to PACE Volodymyr Ariev accused Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov of blocking the visit to the session, where the violation of the rights of Crimean Tatar in annexed Crimea would be considered, as European Truth reported.
According to him, the parliament’s speaker does not sign the official trip for the session of the PACE Committee on Equality and Nondiscrimination. “I believe that it is not just a mistake but it borders with criminally negligent,” Ariev said.
The agenda of the next PACE session, which will take place on October 2, includes this issue. The committee should approve the draft report on September 12. The new Ukrainian delegation is not formed yet but according to the PACE rules, the previous membership is valid until the new list of the lawmakers is approved.
Head of the delegation is entitled to define who will be present at the session of the committee. Ariev, Mustafa Dzhemilev, and Andriy Lopushansky should present Ukraine.
On June 26, profile committees of the PACE considered the question of restoring all authorities of the Russian delegation in the Assembly. The concluding recommendation passed after the night-time session says that these powers should be returned without any sanctions - not even those that remained after the PACE resolution was passed on June 24.
Due to this fact, the delegations of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Litva Slovakia, Estonia, and Georgia announced demarche.
In September 2019, Russia paid the arrears of contribution to the budget of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council 2017-2018.
