“I would like to congratulate everyone with the Day of Dignity and Freedom. The Revolution of Dignity and Freedom began five years ago, it was a response of the Ukrainian nation to the attempt of the then pro-Russian Yanukovych’s regime to return Ukraine to colonial dependence on Russia. Though it seemed impossible, we knew, that we had to prevent Ukraine’s return to colonial Russia. We began this path then,” Andriy Parubiy, Parliament’s Spokesperson, said.
He stated that the fight, which began on Maidan, is underway in the work of the MPs in Verkhovna Rada.
“Our barricades were transported from Instytutska and Hrushevsky to Shyrokyne, Stanytsia Luhanska (Donbas, - ed.). Our guys are defending Ukraine and the free world there every day as we used to defend Maidan five years ago. Deepest gratitude and eternal glory to the deceased heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and the Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence in a fight with Russian aggressor. May their sacrifice and love to the Motherland be our main prayer,” Parubiy said.
Serhiy Yevrushka, representative of “Fatherland” faction, proposed to announce a minute of silence.
“I would like to honor those guys who gave their lives for dignity, for our children to have free, democratic, legal, prosperous country,” the people’s deputy said.
Earlier, on November 21, 2013, the Ukrainians showed up at the second Maidan. 112 international summarized what has changed in five years, in particular, concerning the investigation of the murders on the Independence Square.
