Parliament fails to vote for abolishing of weekend lockdown in Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine did not succeed to adopt regulation #4381 on the cancelation of the weekend lockdown. Only 149 MPs voted "for," as 112 Ukraine TV channel reported.

The draft regulation offers to recommend the government to reconsider the decision made on November 11, 2020, to overcome the negative trends in the economy.

Particularly, it is offered to mitigate the restrictions on the ban of reception of visitors by food facilities on weekends (bars, restaurants, cafes and others).

Besides, it is offered to allow the visiting of the shopping malls and other entertainment facilities.

The MPs offered to renew the work of the cultural establishments, gyms, fitness centers, swimming pools and holding of mass events.

Moreover, it is offered to allow the work of the trade and public services of the population.

As we reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to introduce the weekend quarantine all over the country. The strict quarantine will act from 00:00 a.m. Saturday until 00:00 a.m. Monday. On the weekend, only objects of the critical infrastructure, particularly, groceries, drug stores and transport will work in the country. The work of shopping malls, sports centers, fitness centers, swimming pools, theaters and holding of mass events is banned.

On November 16 and today, in Kyiv, near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, entrepreneurs are protesting, Hrushevskoho Street is currently blocked.
