The paperless mode should start working in Ukraine on Independence Day - the country will abandon paper documents and completely switch to digital format. This was stated by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
"We want to introduce the principle: if the state has the information, there is no need for Ukrainians to request it again in paper form. We want this principle to work starting from Independence Day. Especially since the bill on electronic passports comes into force on August 23 and we are officially becoming the first country in the world to introduce electronic passports," Fedorov said.
The minister noted that this will make it possible to open accounts online, receive other government services online, sign documents without offline visits to government agencies, and receive an electronic signature directly to the smartphone.
"Of course, there will be some problems, the transformation period will take some time, but without this, it is impossible to implement innovations, any changes," Fedorov added.
He also said that about 10,000 Covid certificates are currently being tested in Ukraine, and their public launch may take place soon.
