The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution on the support of the counterwork to Russian propaganda at the EU level on Wednesday 25, as Volodymyr Ariev, the Chairman of Ukrainian delegation in Parliament Assembly of Council of Europe, wrote on Facebook.
“Another victory of ours. The PACE has just unanimously adopted a resolution under my report: expressed support of the counterwork to Russia’s propaganda at the EU level and recommended the Council of Europe state members to establish observatories for monitoring the disinformation and fakes,” Ariev stated.
It was noted that the document states that some Russian state media turned into propaganda schemes for spreading fake news and incite hatred.
Earlier, the Pope condemned fake news spreading to achieve political goals and called for fighting against “evil of fake information”. Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko thinks, that populism and fake news are one of the most dangerous problems in Europe.
As it was reported earlier, the PACE spring session is to be held on April 23-27. It was noted that the PACE acknowledged the ORDLO (separated districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions) occupation by Russia on April 24.
