From midnight to 8 am today, 2,000 foreigners went through the biometric control on the border with Ukraine, 500 of them were citizens of Russia, as Oleh Slobodyan, the Aide to Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine told in a commentary for 112.
“Starting midnight Jan. 1st we introduced the biometric control for foreigners from 70 countries. Usually the passenger traffic decreases after holidays, but nevertheless, as of 8 am, over 2,000 foreigners who were eligible had their fingerprints taken. Out of them, over 500 were citizens of Russia,” Slobodan said.
The Border Guard Service noted that there were no malfunctions in the system’s work, neither there were any conflict situations based on the newly adopted system.
