Starting Jan.1 2018, citizens of 70 countries and stateless persons are obliged to give 5 fingerprints for identification when entering Ukraine. So far, over 15.000 Russians went through the procedure, as to Oleh Slobodyan, spokesperson of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, told 112.ua.
“The system of biometric control is working effectively, and so far no serious problems have been spotted. Since the beginning of this year, 22.500 people went through the biometric control, those are citizens of 70 countries. Out of them, almost 15.500 are citizens of Russia,” Slobodyan said.
The new system allows to check the duration of a person’s stay in Ukraine and is connected to the Interpol database.
