OSCE Special Representative Sajdik calls last Donbas truce the most effective

No deaths among residents were recorded since the beginning of the ceasefire

Special Representative of the OSCE in Minsk talks group Martin Sajdik believes the last truce in Donbas was the most effective. He stated that after the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) meeting in Minsk on August 21, as Interfax-Ukraine News Agency reports.

According to him, the average number of ceasefire violations is still significantly lower for the last 30 days than it had been earlier.

Referring to OSCE SMM, no casualties were reported among residents since the beginning of the ceasefire.

“Though, unfortunately, one person was wounded,” Sajdik noted.

Besides, Darka Olifer, the press secretary of Ukrainian representative in the TCG Leonid Kuchma, reported that the further indefinite observance of the ceasefire was extremely important in the context of the new school year beginning.

The sides also discussed the preparation for the reconstruction works on the Stanytsia Luhanska bridge and agreed on the next necessary steps during today’s meeting.

“Tomorrow the sides will exchange with the letters about the finish of the mine clearance and readiness to start restoration works, including removal of fortifications. And by the way, I have just received these messages from the Ukrainian side,” Sajdik said.
