The officers of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) detained one of the organizers of pseudo-elections of “the Head of "DPR" (Donetsk People's Republic) and members of the People’s Council” held by the terrorists in November 2018, as the press office of the service reported.
The law enforcers determined that a local resident held a post of Deputy Chairman of “the territorial election commission” of one of the constituencies in Novoazovsk region and provided organization of the fake elections for money.
The woman was detained on Ukraine-controlled territory, where she arrived on a personal matter. She was served with charge papers within an open criminal case under the article of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine with prior conspiracy by the group of people). The investigation is underway.
The so-called elections took place in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 11, 2018. The voters elected the leaders of 'people's republics' and their representatives in the parliaments of the 'republics'.
Ukraine, the U.S. and the EU unanimously condemned the voting, considering it illegitimate. Russia still has not commented on the outcome of the election.
