American state Oregon became the 19th state to recognize Holodomor 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian nation, as the press office of Ukraine’s Embassy to the U.S. reported on Facebook.

The Governor of the State Kate Brown signed the document.

Besides, it was reported that Oregon joint the honoring of the 85th anniversary of Holodomor.

“Step by step, Ukraine’s Embassy to the U.S. and the Ukrainian community in America are spreading the truth about Holodomor-genocide 1932-33 in Ukraine,” the message says.

Last month, a memorial to victims of the 1933 Holodomor in Ukraine appeared in Toronto. 'For many years, while the memory of Holodomor was concealed, Canada's Ukrainian community has been keeping it and managed to get it back to Ukraine. It is an extremely important contribution, and I'm especially thankful to the elderly members of our community who kept this memory,' Canada's Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said.
