The political Party Opposition Platform – For Life supports the establishment of the relevant committee on Donetsk and Luhansk regions issues in the Ukrainian Parliament.
The appropriate petition is registered on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament) and the party encourages other political powers, the MPs and Ukrainian citizens to support it.
“Donbas conflict is still continuing in our country for the sixth year in a row. The previous authorities could do nothing to stop it. Today, the Parliament, as the highest institution of the representative power, is able [to change things] and should develop laws necessary for the political settlement of the conflict and country’s return to peaceful life. All the laws are set in Minsk Agreements, supported by the UN Security Council’s resolution No. 2202 as of February 17 2015 and are well-known to everybody. This is the law about the special local governance order on the separate territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Amnesty law, the Special elections on the occupied territories law, and the Autonomy statute for these territories,” the party stated.
“We should show responsibility to the citizens of Ukraine, to the people living on both sides of the demarcation line. Donbas residents risk their lives every day and face numerous humanitarian and social problems such as destroyed accommodation and infrastructure, disruptions in functioning of life-support systems, lack of work, social security, accessible and qualitative medical care. We should help them to solve all these questions,” the party noted.
“The activity of the relevant Committee will provide with coordination of different authorities’ and local administrations’ work to facilitate the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories, establish the restoration of the suffered from attacks region and provide its residents with the priority needs. We are ready to engage in work of this committee and delegate our representative to its leadership,” the party said.
