Oleg Sentsov's crime drama "Rhino" about the chaotic 90s won the Stockholm Film Festival 2021.

This was reported on the website of the film festival, and the director himself shared the good news on Facebook.

"We proudly present the winners of Stockholm International Film Festival 2021. This year’s big winner is the film »Rhino« by Oleg Sentsov who is awarded the prestigious Bronze Horse for Best Film, and in which lead actor Serhii Filimonov is awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of the criminal Rhino," the message on the website reads.

During the chaotic 90s in post Soviet Ukraine a rebellious small-time criminal is caught in a spiral of violence and more and more serious crime. He quickly ascends in the criminal hierarchy and is finding it exceedingly more difficult to stop. A visually strong and poetic film that explores what it is like to be both the winner and loser in a system and if one can come to terms with one's destiny. Actor Serhii Filinomov shows huge potential in his debut role.

The film was shot in Kryvyi Rih and Lviv. Funding from the Ukrainian State Film Agency is 50% of the budget of the film "Rhino" (over 947,000 dollars). Earlier, Oleg Sentsov's project received financial support from the German film fund Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Polish Film Institute.

The release is scheduled for February 2022. Watch the trailer here:
