Officials, teachers unvaccinated from Covid-19 to be suspended in Ukraine from today

All unvaccinated officials and teachers will be suspended from work from today, November 8.

It does not apply to people who have absolute contraindications for preventive vaccinations against Covid-19 and received a medical opinion on the presence of contraindications for vaccination against Covid-19 issued by a healthcare institution.

The next categories of employees should be vaccinated:

  • central executive authorities and their territorial bodies;
  • local state administrations and their structural divisions;
  • - institutions of higher, professional, general secondary, including special, preschool, out-of-school education, institutions of special education and institutions, regardless of the type and form of ownership.

The suspension of employees is carried out by issuing an order or regulation of the head of a state body or enterprise, institution, an organization with the obligatory bringing it to the attention of the citizens who are being eliminated.

The term for suspension from work is established until the reasons that caused it are eliminated.

It is noted that at the time of such elimination, the remuneration of workers and civil servants is carried out in accordance with the norms of the law.

In October, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for the removal of unvaccinated employees of enterprises, institutions, and organizations subject to mandatory vaccination against coronavirus.

Sick leave benefits will not be available to employees who have been suspended from work for refusing or avoiding compulsory preventive vaccination against acute respiratory disease Covid-19.

Recently, the trade union of workers of education and science of Ukraine asked the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education not to suspend teachers who did not have time to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The trade union draws attention to Article 32 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, which provides that employees must be notified of changes in essential working conditions no later than two months.

However, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine refused to accommodate the trade union of education and science workers.
