The Security Service of Ukraine caught the officials of the Black Sea state fish agency on receiving a bribe, today, on July 31, 2017. The officials were cited for systematic bribery. The preliminary estimates say that the “catch” was around 80,000 USD in a season, as the SBU press service informs.
According to the message, the officials participating in the scheme were plenty, starting with local inspectors, and ending with high-ranking regional and central controlling bodies. They received unlawful benefit from poachers for catching fish and conch shells in the Black Sea.
The law enforces detained one of the facilitators on receiving a 4,000 USD bribe. A few days earlier the law enforcers documented one of the officials receiving a 2000 USD bribe.
A criminal case was started based on the Article 368-3 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The facilitators were informed they were under suspicion.
