Odesa to hold Ukraine’s largest international squash tournament

The 11th Zenit Black Sea Open 2021 International Squash Championship will take place in Odesa from August 19 to 22, 2021.

SPORT LIFE fitness center on Heavenly Hundred Avenue, 2 is where the tournament will take place. The competition will be held with the assistance of the Squash Federation. 150 participants will compete for four days of the tournament for rewards in 8 categories.

The organizer of the tournament Dmytro Shcherbakov stated that the main goal of the tournament is to strengthen sports ties between the countries and athletes in the post-Covid times, develop squash in Ukraine and improve skills of young squash players.

Co-organizer of the Zenit Black Sea Open 2021 tournament Maksym Urakin added that physical education and sports in our country need the support of both the government and patrons.

"The government has almost fully withdrawn from the development of targeted sports programs, we thank our partners and patrons for their assistance; athletes and sections, and consequently high-achievement sports, cannot do without the synergy of state and business," Maksym Urakin says.

Players from England, Australia, Germany, Wales, Egypt, Romania, US, Moldova, Belarus and other countries, as well as athletes from Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Kherson and Odesa will take part in the competition.

The opening of the tournament is scheduled for Thursday, August 19 and the award ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 22 at the five-star Premier Hotel Odesa.
