Odesa police check information on poisoning in kindergarten

Odesa law enforcers are checking the information about the poisoning of 50 children in a pre-school facility, as the press office of the service reports on Facebook.

The police did not receive information about the incident. The law enforcers found it out during Internet monitoring.

“The data was documented in a set legal order to fully and objectively check the information,” the message says.

As Olena Buynevych, the director of Odesa City Administration Education and Culture Department, stated it happened in the kindergarten #135. On Friday, a part of its pupils was complaining about feeling sick. It is about 16 children, now their condition is satisfactory, except for one child, who was hospitalized. According to the head of the medical facility, this case is unlikely to be connected with the kindergarten.

All necessary lab analyses are being conducted.

“At the moment, we don’t know what we are dealing with. It is expected, that it might be a rotavirus vaccination,” Buynevych stated.

An additional sanitary and hygienic treatment is being carried out in the kindergarten. It was decided not to open the kindergarten. The members of Ukraine’s State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the members of the Odesa City Administration Education and Culture Department are working in the facility since morning.

“We expect that tomorrow the educational facility will restore its work,” Buynevych said.

Earlier, the mass poisoning of children took place in Slavutych, the private camp in Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi district. 12 children suffered. The administration of the camp dines that children got poisoned in their cafeteria. Issued by the coaches the spoiled yogurt caused poisoning of children, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection claimed.
