Odesa officials to take Ukrainian language courses

The officials of Odesa will take the Ukrainian language courses. Officials and employees of utility companies will increase the level of proficiency in the state language. This was announced during a meeting at City Hall.

According to the director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council Olena Buynevych, there are already over a thousand people willing to take courses in the region. 30 people have been chosen for the first group. It included local government officials who work with documents and speak in public.

In four weeks, they will be able to increase their literacy and expand their vocabulary.

Upon completion of the training, program participants will receive a certificate.

In addition, according to Buynevych, it is planned to issue a special directory of specific terms in the Ukrainian language that city hall officials have to know as they are used in the work.

Earlier it was reported that service sector switched to Ukrainian language from January 16. Violators will face $ 181-240 fines. At the same time, representatives of the service sector will not face financial penalties immediately. A fine will be issued only in case of a systematic violation of the law.
