Odesa city council official runs away from anti-corruption special officers

The special forces of the anti-corruption bureau tried to detain Oleh Babenko, who is suspect in trying to give a $500,000 bribe

Deputy of the city council of Odesa Oleh Babenko managed to get away from special forces officers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), as Insider reports according to their sources.

The source says Babenko ran away from the officers, having jumped out of a window. 

As we reported earlier, on Jan. 12, Babenko was informed about suspicion of attempting to bribe a NABU officer for lifting arrest of $6.5 million of assets of a company connected to him.

The prosecution says that Babenko’s whereabouts are unknown and he might be put on Ukrainian and international wanted list.
