It was noted that opposition politicians and social activists, the representatives of the religious and national minorities, LGBT-activists, Ukrainians and pro-Ukrainian activists are the victims of persecution of the Russian authority.
The document urges to impose sanctions against people responsible for political persecution in Russia so that “Kremlin does not go unpunished” for its actions.
Special attention is paid to the repression laws adopted in 2012 which impose or enhance criminal or administrative persecution for violation of the regulations of mass demonstrations, “breach of the sanctity” of the faithful, “propaganda of homosexuality”, public calls for separatism, denial of the role of the Soviet Union in the Second World War.
Laws about “foreign agents” and “undesirable organization” were also mentioned there.
54 people are being persecuted for political reasons, 182 people are on the list for religious reasons. Ukrainian film maker Oleg Sentsov is also mentioned in the report.
