Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of National Security and Defense Council, announced new sanctions against the individuals involved in the “elections” on the occupied territories of Donbas and the Ukrainian companies that cooperate with Russia, as he told the journalists in Kyiv, 112 Ukraine reports.
"I would like to say, that a new sanctions package of NSDC is being prepared. The proposals of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada will be included. I am convinced that this will be a strong package of different sanctions, including against those, who lead, inspired, and organized the fake “elections” on the occupied territories, and against a wide range of the Ukrainian enterprises which cooperate with the defense complex or enhance Russia’s security and defense," Turchynov said.
According to him, some representatives of the European states, who participated in the “elections” as “observers,” might be included in the sanctions list.
The so-called elections took place in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 11. The voters elected the leaders of "people's republics" and their representatives in the parliaments of the "republics."
A member of the Hungarian party Jobbik and a representative of Bekes regional council in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Tamás Samu Gergő visited the Donbas occupied territories of Ukraine to observe the “elections” held by the militants.
Ukraine, the U.S., and the EU unanimously condemned the voting, considering it illegitimate. Russia still has not commented on the outcome of the elections.
