Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated that the Normandy meeting would be held next week in Berlin, as Ukrinform reported.

“Now we are negotiating on this (deploying the UN peacekeeping mission, - ed.). This question will be discussed in the Normandy format at the level of political directors. The discussion is scheduled for next week in Berlin,” Klimkin said.

According to him, the problem is that Russia tries to consciously block and torpedo the idea of deploying the peacekeeping mission in Donbas.

“Russia’s direction lies in the legitimization of Donbas occupation and an attempt to push Russian protectorate in a free democratic European Ukraine, which is inherently impossible. Besides, Russia is speculation onto the fact that it doesn’t want to carry out substantive negotiations, trying to point at the elections next year in Ukraine,” Klimkin said.
