A spokeswoman of Odesa Prosecutor’s Office told about the identification of the ninth roomer who was the victim of a fire in Odesa Tokyo Star hotel on the night of August 17. It is reported by Ukrinform agency.
“As for October 11, the forensic of the remains of one of the roomers who died during a fire in the Tokyo Star hotel on the night of August 17 was completed,” Verba said.
It is noted that it was a resident of Kharkiv born in 1984.
On the night of August 17, a large-scale fire broke out at the Odesa Hotel Tokyo Star, as a result of which eight people died and ten were injured. This was reported by the press office of the State Emergency Service.
It is noted that a message about a fire in the hotel was received by the rescuers at 1:34. 13 units of equipment and 65 personnel were involved in extinguishing the fire. They managed to eliminate fire on 1,000 square meters area at 4:32. As a result of the incident, 8 people died, another 10 were injured.
On the fact of the incident, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art. 270 (violation of fire safety requirements established by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The owner of the hotel said he would be fully responsible for the fire in case his guilt was proved by the law enforcers. Later owner of the hotel Vadym Chorny was detained.
