The Nigerian pirates attacked a ship with Ukrainians on board and took them prisoners, as Sea informational centre reported on Facebook.
“On March 30, a group of armed Nigerian pirates has landed on board of the container ship Contship Oak, which was at anchor in Douala (Gulf of Guinea), took away all valuable stuff, captured the crew and took them in an unknown direction,” the message says.
The information about the incident was passed to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and to Ukraine’s Consul to Nigeria. No official data from the establishment reported.
It was noted that the vessel belongs to a Greek company Contships and as of April 2 it was moored in the port of Douala.
Earlier, the Nigerian pirates capture 12 members of the Swiss crew of MV Glarus merchant ship.
