Newly appointed National Police head Serhiy Knyazev has voiced his tasks on the position. His speech in the Cabinet of Ministers was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“Uncompromising fight against crime and the continuation of reforms: this is the main motto and these are main tasks entrusted to me by the team that has more than hundred thousand personnel. We have to show results, for which we will not be ashamed before the citizens of our state, and then they will say “thank you” or “no”. The safety must be ensured on the streets; Ukrainians should feel safe in their own homes. I am sure that we can handle the challenges of our time, having internal and external aggressor. To serve and to protect are the basic principles for the National Police,” he said.
Knyazev was unanimously appointed as the National Police head in the Cabinet of Ministers today, on February 8. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman noted commenting his appointment that the streets in Ukrainian cities have to be safe.
The candidacy of Knyazev was introduced for government’s consideration by the Internal Minister Arsen Avakov. He said he had chosen this candidacy based on the results of the competition, taking into account opinion of the Commission members.
Earlier it was reported that Dekanoidze has been working the position of the National Police head for a year; she left, slamming the door, claiming political interference in work of police and the lack of funding for reform. Moreover, Dekanoidze just said she did not see his first deputy Vadim Troyan future head of the Ukrainian police.
