The New Year 2021 in the conditions of a pandemic will be celebrated in Kyiv with restrictions. There will be no traditional festivities. This was announced by the founder of the FolksUkraine project Ihor Dobrutsky on air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
Dobrutsky said that a symbol of the holiday - a Christmas tree - will be installed on Sofia Square this year. It will be artificial. The hight of the tree will reach 30 m. The area will be covered with a dome with illumination.
However, he noted that there will be no mass festivities and concerts this year.
“You know, we were hoping until the end, that we would have a plan A and a plan B. We were preparing to make a full-fledged beautiful celebration in the theme “magic forest.” But, unfortunately, we are starting plan B and we will leave the central part of the city more spacious, to avoid crowds,” Dobrutsky said.
Food courts will not be set up on Sofia Square. Houses with sweets and drinks are to be organized on Volodymyrska Hill. Souvenir kiosks will also be installed on Andriyivsky Descent. In addition, according to him, there will be some events and illumination near the People's Friendship Arch.
The main Christmas tree of the country will be lit on St. Nicholas Day, December 19.
As you know, the country refused from adaptive quarantine. There is weekend quarantine in Ukraine from 00:00 Saturday to 00:00 Monday . As you know, such quarantine is introduced from November 14 to 30.
However, Ukrainian Truth agency reported, citing sources in the Ministry of Health, that the weekend quarantine could be introduced until the end of 2020. The relevant decision already exists, but it was not drawn up as a resolution.
