Washington commits itself to maintain sanctions against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine in the new Charter of Strategic Partnership with Kyiv as the US State Department reported.

“The United States intends to support Ukraine’s efforts to counter armed aggression, economic and energy disruptions, and malicious cyber activity by Russia, including by maintaining sanctions against or related to Russia and applying other relevant measures until restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders,” the Charter states.

Moreover, Washington and Kyiv intend to hold Russia accountable for aggression against Ukraine and violation of international law, including the seizure and attempted annexation of Crimea and the Russian-led armed conflict in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

On November 10, Washington hosted a meeting of the Ukraine-US Strategic Partnership Commission. The agenda of the commission meeting, in particular, discussed issues of Ukraine's defense, strengthening energy security, attracting American investments to Ukraine, and jointly combating cyber threats and climate change.
