The ‘British’ and ‘South African’ strains of coronavirus infection are more contagious and dangerous as they affect not only the respiratory system but also the renal and nervous systems as Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said.
“This strain of coronavirus differs by short incubative stage, one-three days, thrice as much contagiousness, and, unfortunately, high mortality,” Stepanov said.
The minister added that besides the respiratory system, the mutated coronavirus has started to affect renal and central nervous systems.
Earlier, the first cases of the ‘British’ strain of coronavirus were confirmed in Ukraine. Two positive results were reported in Ivano-Frankivsk.
As we reported, in Ukraine, during the past 24 hours, 3,261 new cases of coronavirus were observed. Since the beginning of pandemic, 1,410,061 people got infected; 27,204 (+76 in 24 hours) died and 1,199,229 (+975) recovered.
