A new 'National Legend' award will be introduced in Ukraine on the eve of Independence Day celebrations. It will be awarded for a significant contribution to the development of Ukraine, as President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at Ukraine 30 forum.
"A new award 'National Legend' will take place on August 22. This is a new state award and a new tradition. Ukraine will honor its geniuses and applaud them when they need to," Zelensky said.
According to him, since 1991, Ukraine's independence has been shaped by individuals who are well-known and "thanks to whom everyone knows about Ukrainian painting, music, theater, ballet, literature, cinema, science and sports."
The president named Valery Lobanovsky, Bohdan Stupka, Mykola Amosov, Borys Paton, Leonid Kadenyuk, Bronislav Brondukov, Leonid Bykov and others as such personalities.
