Alasania Zurab, the Head of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine, stated that negotiations with another candidate of the Eurovision-2019 will be held in the morning on February, 26. He wrote this on Facebook.
“Long and tiresome were talks (five hours and a half) between the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine, Maruv, and her team, the result is the following: the parties did not strike a compromise, the agreement will not be signed,” Alasia said.
The National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine believes that the national selection of this year will be held in a fair way.
“However, the selection highlighted another problem that touches upon politics, but not music, because of many musicians tour in the aggressor state. And this caused a negative resonance among part of the society. And at the same time another part of the society defends the result, along with the advocacy of this right”, - the report said.
Alasia also points out that in order to prevent involving too much politics in the contest (this is a condition of the Eurovision) the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine wrote such conditions in the agreement that would settle this issue down.
“In particular: the refusal of the representative of Ukraine at the international contest from touring in the Russian Federation (three months after the contest). As well as the respectful attitude while speaking in public regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine, or any statements that could cause harmful effect on Ukraine at the international level (the rest of the conditions are about rights, for example, all the standards of the Eurovision. The National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine is responsible for any negative behavior of the participant. Both inside and outside the country,” Alasia reported.
It should be noted that according to the results of the national selection, Freedom Jazz with the song Cupidonthe second place won. The third place won Kazka with the song Apart. Brunettes Shoot Blondes ranked fourth, and Yuko came fifth.
As we reported earlier, Maruv became a participant of Eurovision-2019 from Ukraine. This became known after the joint voting of the jury and the TV audience on February, 23. MARUV won the show with “Siren Song” amid explosive drama and red-hot words. She’ll represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv. Maruv won the national selection for Eurovision 2019. She got 11 points out of 12.
