Opening of the new NATO office in Ukraine is not about in the Alliance; it is about closer bilateral cooperation. Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, the Vice Premier for European Integration said that during the opening ceremony in Kyiv on Monday.
‘This event is quite symbolic one, since Ukraine and NATO open a new page in their relations. Last month, the Parliament approved Ukraine’s course for NATO membership; so, once again, our ultimate goal is to join the Alliance. This decision meets requirements of the society, whereas the majority supports this country’s European and Atlantic integration. Of course, joining the Alliance cannot solve all of our security issues, and we obviously are not talking about instant membership. But NATO is the only player capable of contributing to Ukraine’s security and defense capability,’ she said.
