Serhiy Knyazev made a decision to resign from the post of the head of the National Police of Ukraine, as he announced during the briefing.
“I decided to resign. I just returned passing the resignation letter to the minister. I believe that it is the step of the head of police of the European state. The time has come,” Knyazev said.
Serhiy Knyazev has been serving in the interior affairs bodies over 20 years. Since 1992 he headed the number of the regional departments of the Interior Ministry and police during the most difficult times. For example, in 2014, he was appointed to Donetsk region, in 2015, he headed the department in Zakarpattia, in 2016 – Rivne region. Besides, Kniazev headed the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Knyazev was appointed as Head of the National Police of Ukraine in February 2017.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has eliminated the Economics Department in Ukraine's National Police.
