National Defense Council to consider more sanctions against Russia

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) will consider imposing sanctions against Russia for “elections” in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and its acts in the Kerch Strait. President Petro Poroshenko claimed this at the session of the NSDC, broadcasted the event.

‘Today, the agenda of the National Security and Defense Council includes a decision on the introduction of sanctions by Ukraine for the illicit hold of elections on the occupied territories in the eastern regions of our country, for the aggression against our country in the Black Sea, near the Kerch Strait, against those who attacked our warships, those who were involved in illegal judicial proceedings and gave orders,’ Poroshenko claimed.

On November 25, the coast guard ships of the Russian Navy attacked the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, which have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov.   

21 Ukrainian sailors have been delivered to Lefortovo remand center in Moscow, three others are in the hospital of Matrosskaya Tishina prison, also in the Russian capital. On December 3, the Russian prosecutors officially accused Ukrainian sailors with the 'illegal crossing of the state border' during the attack in the Kerch Strait.
