National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting announced the deadline of granting licence to 1+1 TV channel

The license for analogue broadcasting of 1+1 TV channel was re-issued and prolonged for another seven years. This is announced in a statement by the regulator on their official web-site.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine on TV and radiobroadcast, the form of the license with the prolonged date of expiry shall be handled to the license-holder not earlier than the last working day before the expiration date of the previous license, which in this case is December 29. Taking into account the fact that the regulator received the extract from the State Treasury Service of Ukraine on December 26, 1+1 shall receive the license form not later than January 6, 2017, the regulator informed.

It is also announced that the National Council approached the TV channel with the letter to confirm that the ultimate beneficial owner hadn’t changed.

Earlier, the journalists and representatives of Ukraine’s 1+1 TV Channel, belonging to Ihor Kolomoisky, have published an open letter to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

They state about the threat of shutting down the TV channel due to the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting has not yet revoked the channel’s license to broadcast, which expires today.
