National Bank of Ukraine issues coin dedicated to occupied Crimea

The obverse of the coin shows the design that symbolizes Crimea

On April 25, the National Bank of Ukraine introduces a coin dedicated to annexed Crimea as the press service of the bank reported.

‘Crimea possesses the great resort and recreational potential that is provided by the natural resort factors and unique landscapes. It is famous for the numerous archeology, history, culture, architecture and urban development landmarks. The rich history of Crimea and nations that formed its current ethnic identity – Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Russians, Greeks, Armenians and other ethnic and ethnic-religious communities. In 2014 the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was cruelly occupied by Russia’, the message said.

The obverse of the coin shows the design that symbolizes Crimea (mountain Ayu-Dag), year of the coin’s mintage 2018 is on the right to the mountain. The antique ship is placed against stylized waves, the Khan's Palace situated in Bakhchysarai, the gazebo in Chersonesus where Volodymyr the Great was christened, a bunch of grapes, amphora, Tatar and antique coins, flowers of mountain lavender are placed under the ship.


The reverse of the coin shows the map of Ukraine against the ornament from Taril made by Rustem Skibin.
