The Head of the Naftogaz-Ukraine does not see any gas supply risks
08:59, 4 March 2018

Andriy Koblyev, the Head of the Naftogaz-Ukraine, stated in the interview for The Wall Street Journal, that the conflict between Gazprom and Ukraine does not affect gas supply from Russia to the EU.

“Risks for Europe have disappeared. We did everything possible to prevent Russia from creating an artificial crisis,” Kobolev said.

He thinks, that Gazprom decreased pipeline pressure on its side by 20%. Due to this Ukraine allegedly had to increase power consumption to provide gas transit to the EU.

As we reported earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science advised the educational institutions to suspend work till March 7 to save gas and provide appropriate conditions for education.

This occurred because Gazprom reduced pipeline pressure by 20% on its side and minimized gas sale to other clients.

Due to this, Naftogaz started a “Turn it down!” flashmob – if you have a heating boiler, lower the temperature in the premises by 1 degree during daytime and by 2 degrees at night. This would cut the demand for gas by 8-9%, which should be enough for the Russian blackmail to fail

Gazprom’s behavior is connected with the Stockholm Arbitration decision, made on February 28. As a result of two arbitrations in Stockholm, Gazprom is to pay Naftogaz $2,56 billion.

Gazprom does not agree with this decision. Representatives of the company stressed, they will protect their rights by all means, allowable by the current law. Alexey Miller, the Head of Gazprom, stated that they start Ukraine’s gas contracts termination.
