Yuriy Vitrenko, the executive director of Naftogaz Ukraine stated that according to the decision of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, current contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom requires the Russian company to supply Ukraine 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the German market price level. This was his response to the reproaches of the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller about Ukraine’s need to conclude contract on gas supply and transit with Russia. Vitrenko wrote this on his Facebook page.
He emphasized that Gazprom hasn’t been fulfilling its contractual obligations and hasn’t been supplying Ukraine with gas even when the Ukrainian side had signed the gas supply agreement.
“But Mr. Miller talks about his readiness to negotiate some new supply at a price lower than the German market price. So, Gazprom doesn’t want to supply gas at a higher price but is willing to do that at a lower price. Does anyone believe this?” Vitrenko noted.
According to him, last spring, in formal negotiations headed by Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev Gazprom was offered a gas “swap” as a backup option in case if Gazprom would have not wanted to conclude a contract for the reservation of capacity for transit. And there are written confirmations of this, Vitrenko adds.
He announced his intention to use these facts in the new arbitration against Gazprom.
As it was reported earlier, On July 1, gas price for industrial consumers will reduce by 13% in Ukraine? fccjrding to Naftogaz.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that the government has to obligate Naftogaz Ukraine to reduce the gas price in June and July this year. The Cabinet of Ministers will appeal to Audit Chamber of the Anti-Monopoly Committee, State Fiscal Service for the inspection of gas prices formation.
