National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) cannot investigate the case regarding gas contracts of Yulia Tymoshenko, and she cannot be arrested twice for it. This was reported by Nazar Kholodnytsky, the Head of Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), in a commentary to 112 Ukraine TV channel correspondent.

"There is an ancient Latin proverb. We were taught, as legal professionals, in our freshman year: nobody can be brought to justice twice for the same crime. This is the first point. Secondly, I have doubts whether it’s in NABU’s competence, as there is a number of factors which influence investigative jurisdiction of NABU. Particularly, this is the time when the crime was committed. These events took place in 2008-2009, this was long before NABU and SAP were created," Kholodnytsky said.

It is noteworthy that yesterday, June 6, during Verkhovna Rada conciliation board Artur Gerasimov announced that Petro Poroshenko Bloc demands verification of Tymoshenko’s "gas contract" by NABU and SAP anti-corruption bodies, as well as consideration of state treason issue by parliament’s committees on national security and anti-corruption countering.

Let us remind that the leaders of Naftogaz and Gazprom signed gas contract for ten years in 2009 on the results of negotiations between Yulia Tymoshenko and Vladimir Putin.
