Mykolaiv pays last tribute to Donbas Conflict hero pilot

The father of the perished and his friends said the parting words

On March 21, more than hundred citizens of Mykolaiv bid farewell to Vladyslav Voloshyn, the military pilot, acting director of Mykolaiv International Airport, hero of Donbas Conflict who committed a suicide as NikLife reported.

The last farewell took place at the territory of the Forensic Medical Bureau. The family of Voloshyn, his friends, familiars, coworkers and the representatives of the authority were present.

Then, all present got on the knees, made a 'live corridor' to send the officer to his final journey, his way was sprinkled with the carnations.

Earlier, on March 18, in Mykolayiv, a 29-year-old acting director of one of the region's communal enterprises committed suicide by shooting himself from a gun in his apartment. The police opened a criminal proceeding under the Criminal Code article on intentional suicide.

Later, the journalist Andriy Lokhmatov published one of Voloshyn’s correspondences, where he mentions the pressure from Oleksiy Savchenko, the Chairman of Mykolaiv Regional Government Department, the desire to leave the airport, the suicide thoughts that were in his mind all the time. 
 “I am not afraid of him. I do not want to leave children without a father, but thoughts about suicide stuck in my head”.

Oleksiy Savchenko, the Chairman of Mykolaiv Regional Government Department, is now on vacation. On his Facebook page, Savchenko expressed condolences to Voloshyn’s family.

It should be mentioned that Vladyslav Voloshyn - was one of the Donbas conflict heroes. He was awarded the Order of Courage of the third degree. The Russian authorities accused him of attacking the Malaysian Boeing MH17, shot down over Donbas in the summer of 2014. Later this version was completely refuted by the investigation of the prosecutor's office of the Netherlands and Ukraine.
