Murder of five-year-old boy: Second suspect remains in detention, court rules

The police officer suspected of the murder of a five-year-old Kyrylo Tlyavov in Pereyaslav Khmelnytsky will stay in detention till July 30, 2019

Kyiv Court of Appeal left the second suspect of five-year-old boy Kyrylo Tlyavov murder in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky in detention, as the press office of the establishment reported.

“On Monday, July 1, the panel of the judges of the court chamber on consideration of the criminal cases of Kyiv Court of Appeal considered the appeal submitted by the defence against the decision of the investigating judge of Holosiivsky District Court of Kyiv as of June 4, 2019 which granted the appeal of the investigator and the restrictive measure in a form of detention till July 30, 2019 inclusively imposed on the suspect I.A. Prykhodko,” the message reads.

Therefore, the decision of the investigating judge of Holosiivsky District Court of Kyiv as of June 4, remains in force, the appeals of the defence are not granted.

As it was reported, the leadership of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky police department of Kyiv region was suspended from their duties after the death of a five-year-old Kyrylo injured by the police officers.

Reportedly, on May 31, a boy with physical injuries in the form of a severe closed-head injury, brain contusion, internal brain hematoma and a fracture of the temporal bone was delivered to the intensive care unit of the Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky hospital. On June 3, Kyrylo died; the doctors could not save his life.

June 5, it appeared that Dmytro Tsenov, the chief of the National Police in Kyiv region was relieved from his duty because of the tragedy. Then, he was appointed the Head of Police in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas.
