Arrested MP Nadia Savchenko has announced the dry hunger strike, the Facebook post on her page says.
The actions of the investigators of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) caused resentment of the lawmaker.
“They have issued an ultimatum that my lawyers sign that they have finished familiarizing with the case. It was today. I will not be taken to the bank, in no case, will not be allowed to restore my electronic key, submit the declaration to the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption, to open the party’s accounts, to allow me to run for the presidency in Ukraine in 2019. The investigator has issued an ultimatum that I will not be taken to the bank. Moreover, I will be banned from the visits of my relatives, MP’s. The pressure is put and the restriction of my work as the lawmaker takes place,” Savchenko said.
“I announce the dry hunger strike, not only without food but also without water. It will continue it until I am not provided with the visit of the bank, until I restore the electronic key and submit the declaration, until my relatives are not allowed to visit me,” she said.
Reportedly, Savchenko underwent a polygraph testing. The Security Service of Ukraine claimed that the psychological forensic examination with the use of the polygraph of MP Nadiya Savchenko confirmed her intentions of committing the coup d'état, particularly the commitment of the terrorist act in the governmental quarter and the Ukrainian Parliament.
Shevchenkivsky District Court decided on preventive measures for Nadiya Savchenko – detention on custody for two months till May 20, 2018, without a right for bailment. During her speech, she declared a hunger strike. She also noted that she wasn’t going to escape Ukraine. Later, Appeal Court enhanced Savchenko’s detention until July 14.
On July 13, her detention was extended and she declared an indefinite hunger strike.
Yuriy Lutsenko, Prosecutor General, claimed that he has proof that Savchenko planned an armed coup d'état, which would have brought to mass civilian casualties. In particular, according to the information of Prosecutor General's office, she planned to shell Kyiv with a grenade launcher. Furthermore, she together with early detained Volodymyr Ruban are suspected of an organization of assassination of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
