People's Deputy from the "People's Front" party and adviser to the head of the Interior Ministry, Anton Gerashchenko called "populism" the attempts to blame the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov for the tragedy in Kniazhychi, but noted that political responsibility for what happens in the Interior Ministry will be on Avakov anyway. He stated this on the air of "112 Ukraine" TV channel.
"Arsen Avakov is the Minister of Internal Affairs. The Minister of Internal Affairs does not provide direct guidance to the National Police. Specifically, this operation involved police officers at Kyiv level, at the level of Kyiv districts. Therefore, it is pure populism to address the issue by shifting the responsibility to the Minister. He is politically responsible for what is happening in the Ministry, and he will carry it in any way,” Gerashchenko said.
