It is noted that the biopic script was selected to participate in the ScripTeast scriptwriter program.
The picture with the working title "Uzlissia" represents the life story of a great woman from her early years to the last days.
Oleksandra Lavrenchuk wrote a script about the famous Ukrainian writer.
Yulia Synkevich (JS Films, general producer of the Odesa International Film Festival) was the creative producer and the author of the film's idea, and co-producer is Maria Moskalenko (FX FILM Georgia).
"The idea to shoot a film about Lesya Ukrainka appeared completely spontaneously when Maria Moskalenko traveled past Surami where the poet died. It seemed to me that there are probably films about the fate of Lesya Ukrainka, and this theme is on the surface, but, studying a lot of material, dedicated to the creativity of the poetess, I realized that there were practically no films about it, and the only one called "I'm Going to You" was filmed in 1971, " Yulia Synkevich said.
As it was reported earlier last year Google released a doodle to mark 145 years since Lesya Ukrainka’s birth. The doodle depicts a scene from Lesya Ukrainka’s drama “The Forest Song”.
Lesya Ukrainka was born in Novohrad-Volynskiy in 1871. She wrote poetry, epic literature, drama, prose, publicism and folklore. Ukrainka took active part in Ukrainian national movement.
