Minster of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan supports the full cessation of the railway communication with Russia, but it will not be done for now. Omelyan stated this in the interview with LIGA.net.
“I see that the political solution (although we do support it) is not likely to be reached,” Omelyan pointed out responding to the question whether it is planned to cease the railway communication with Russia.
According to the report, the trains to Russia are still used, but far less then it used to be before, and the occupation rate in carriages is constantly decreasing.
“Last year, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, the number of trips by rail to the EU countries exceeded the number of trips to the Russian Federation. Therefore, the reduction of trains to Russia was an absolutely objective decision. It makes no sense to carry air,” Omelyan added.
